Have noticed a clump of mold/black powder outside our bedroom window. This week noticed a black powdery residue behind the floor board in our bedroom. House was flooded 4 1/2' in August 2007 but had clean up and make sure everything was dry and treated before enclosing. Would like a confirmation and an estimate that it is mold and how much it would cost to completely remove.

We have mold in the basement on the floor joists overhead. Conducted our own mold tests to see if it was in the ventilation system and on the second floor. It turns out it is. We need to have the mold cleaned out from the basement and the ventilation system. We would like an estimate please.

Whether you like it or not, mold and mildew are going to be around for many years after you and I are history! Mold spores are tenacious, and can survive and return to haunt bathrooms even after they have been removed by bathroom mold removal. Although you can't really guarantee that mold will never come back after it has infested in your bathroom and been removed, you can take steps to decrease the chances of mold setting up house in your bathroom again.
To prevent mildew in the bathroom, the first and most important step is to enhance the quality of air inside the bathroom by sufficient ventilation. Bathrooms tend to be closed at all times, allowing the mold to grow undetected. Leave the doors open before and after you use the shower. Install an exhaust fan, with an exit that leads outside, and not to the attic. Make sure there aren't puddles of water in the air that can contribute to dampness in the air. The floors should always be clean and dry.
If you notice mold spores in your bathtub, sink, shower, or tiles, don't attempt to remove these on your own.
